Celebrating Matt's 29th Birthday

I'm so glad Matt chose to have his birthday dinner at one of my favorite places, Genji's Japanese Steakhouse! The food is always so yummy. We had a great time, except Averi kept getting surprised by the fire - and she didn't like it very well. After dinner we walked around Easton and then took Averi home for her bath and bedtime while Matt and Kate went to see Inception. Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary Matt and Katie!

We just got back from our "Do Something Hard" Youth Conference in West Virginia. The main event was a white water rafting trip. We camped - some in cabins, some in tents. We enjoyed two dances, a fireside with our stake president, a 'fire dance' program, team building exercises, toys on a lake, and a wonderful Testimony Meeting. Sean served on our Stake Youth Council to help plan and facilitate. He designed the T-shirts and conducted the Thursday night Fireside and Dance. I got to go as the Stake Young Women President. Lyle was there as the Bishop of the Zanesville Ward. So it was fun to be there together. Most of Lyle's time was spent at the grill cooking either breakfast, lunch, or dinner for two and a half days. Everyone raved about the steak, the dutch oven potatoes and cobblers, the french toast, the breakfast sandwiches, the bbq pork, and so on. I organized all of the food and just made sure we were running things on time. We had 141 youth and adults in attendance. I thought it was a great time! Would do it all over again this weekend, if it didn't mean coming home and cleaning out all of the coolers and 'stuff'.

Nic, Steff, Camryn, Ashley, Brooklyn, Ryan, and Sean awaiting the Marley sliders!

Nic said this has never, NEVER happened before. They have never both fallen asleep in the car at the same time. We couldn't get them to wake up when we got them home. Just put them in bed and they slept 'til morning.

We only have 1 week - not nearly long enough, and we are missing Matt, Katie, and Averi. They couldn't be here now because Matt started his 4th year of dental school last week. Sad that we won't be all together; we'll do it sometime soon, hopefully! We started the fun off with a quick trip to Logan on Sunday, June 27, to join the family for dinner after Britten's missionary farewell. Great company and food! Monday we headed off for Linden's Aquatic Center and enjoyed the lazy river, the shipwreck pool, and the 'Flowrider'! Lyle, Nic, Steff, Ashley, and Sean braved the surfing and were very sore the next day from the tumbles! After the swim, we ate at Marleys, a division of Harley Davidson. Brooklyn and Camryn were exhausted.

Just enjoying the company! There were 60 of us! The nights cooled off and so the fire was a welcome necessity. Karen pulled together a great game that had us all involved and all laughing! The "Razor" was a hit with all of the kids.

Friday, July 2, we took seventeen 4-wheelers, motorcycles, 'The Razor', and one truck to the top of Baldy! After the hour-long ride, enjoying the most beautiful scenery, many played in the snow, many of us sat on the hot, sun-soaked rocks so that we could stay warm and be protected from the cold wind. We all enjoyed the majesty! We could see clear to the Grand Teton!
