Averi's Sleepover!

She woke up so happy!

It was difficult, but we coaxed Matt and Katie to let Averi stay at our house Friday night. We ran and ran outside in the grass, took a stroll up to the pond, chased the geese, walked down the street to see the horses and cows, read some books, played with the dollies and elmo, cuddled, and had a great time. She is such a cutie, and she slept great! From 9 p.m. til 8:45 a.m. This morning she was not interested in riding with papa on the lawn mower, which is okay, I just wanted a picture of her on it anyway. She tolerated it. So we just went for another walk and played and read books. Just before Lyle left to take her back home, she tripped on the hose on the deck and got a fat lip. Of Course!
We are looking forward to our weekend with her next month!

Grandparent's Day at Nashport Elementary

Cooper Fuhriman, the tall guy in the orange t-shirt, invited me to be his grandma at grandparent's day today. I have gone before with his brother, Tate, too. I love the opportunity. They sing songs and we have a treat (this morning it was orange juice and a muffin). We visit for a while and then take a tour of their classroom. He is in first grade. It was fun to be there with him, and he told me thank you for coming. His mother, Rachel, told me that when Cooper found out it was going to be grandparent's day, he told his teacher that his grandparents live out of the country (they live in Idaho and Utah), but he said that he had a kind-of-a grandma here that could come with him - only she didn't look like his grandma.

We BEAT Tri Valley 2 - 0!!

Lyle didn't take any pictures of the game tonight; he was too busy watching the game to want to be parked behind a lens. I think Sean was a little disappointed that there are no pictures to see.
I believe Sean probably played the game of his life! Keeping Tri Valley scoreless is quite a feat! He, Cy Kinkead, Nathan Stout, and Aaron Berry (all of whom are members of our Zanesville Ward!) did a fabulous job in defense. Sean had a non-goalie save which was spectacular. Can you tell I am excited? Sean picked me up and twirled me around when he got in the house tonight. He is just a little excited too! The last time we beat Tri Valley was when Tanner was a senior - 2005.
We've never had such a crowd watching either... hundreds of people! The football team, the Twisters (the dance team) performed at half time, many alumni with their parents, the girls soccer team, extended families, and lots of members of our ward came to support. Ten of our players are members of our priests quorum.
We will all sleep with smiles on our faces tonight!

Fun at the park with Matt, Katie, & Averi

"Papa, don't feed that bread to the ducks, I'd like to eat it!"
A favorite 'hang out'!

MORE SOCCER WINS!!

Prior to the John Glenn game, the team was introduced escorted by our F-5 Soccer Academy team!
West vs. John Glenn results in a win of 9 - 0.
West beats Morgan 7 - 0.
Not much to do? Grant Pumphrey, Jimmie Boyd, Matt Weingarth, Aaron Berry, and Sean.
Sean is this incredible #6! The team handled Maysville very well beating them 7 - 0.

We have played lots of games and had lots of wins! Enjoy the pics.

The Y-City Mile

Last Saturday was the 'Y-City' Mile in Zanesville. The organizers want area schools to sign up as teams, compete against each other, and win prize money! We had to have a 'mascot' run. The mascot should be the fastest runner on the team. For every participant that you have on your team that crosses the finish line, fifteen seconds are deducted from your mascot's time!
I thought that our soccer team should enter the race. I approached our coach and got his approval and support, then I really encouraged our boys and girls soccer teams along with their parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, and neighbors to come and participate! It is a fun community event that promotes fitness and school spirit, right?! There were a total of 776 runners/ walkers registered for the event. We ended up have 86 runners/ walkers sign up from our team! I was so pumped. We won first place and received a check for $1670.00.
I am very sad that I don't have any pictures to share (how could I have a camera in my hand along with the car keys and Sean's IPod when I walked/ran?), but I do have times to post:
***Sean finished 9th overall with a time of 5:05.
***Lyle finished 3rd in his age division with a 6:40.
I finished!!! It took me exactly 9 minutes. I'm not a mile runner that's for sure!
It was lots of FUN!
